Structural Import/Export

The Structural Import/Export tools are used to create data files representing the Structural physical and or analytical model to be used by structural analysis applications and structural detailing applications as well as tools used to import/export Structural models from/to ISM (Integrated Structural Model) and IFC (Industry Foundation Classes).

Exchanged files are formatted specifically to be opened by structural analysis applications. Analysis application native files can be exchanged repeatedly until the analysis and changes resulting from the analysis are completed. This is referred to as Roundtripping.

Analytical translation allows you to:
  • Generate files containing your Structural physical and or analytical models in a format native to the targeted external analysis application.
  • Selectively import or accept/reject individual changes made in analysis applications.
  • Resolve any mismatched member Structural sections using available section mapping utilities as external analysis applications use different syntax (internally) to specify structural sections.
  • Globally apply Structural data required by the external analysis applications to exported model members, eliminating the risk of them being ignored.

You can access the Structural discipline import/export tools here:

  • ISM Tools – Exchange Structural models and changes to Structural models to and from the ISM (Integrated Structural Model) environment.
  • Structural Export Tools – Export Structural models to external analysis applications and to steel detailing formats. Also, export Structural datasets to the IFC standards schema.
  • Structural Import Tools – Import Structural models from external analysis applications and from steel detailing formats. Also, import Structural datasets from the IFC standards schema.
